Carlos Paez is a Uruguayan survivor of the famous 1972 Andes plane crash. This tragic event occurred when the airplane carrying Paez and his rugby teammates crashed in the Andes mountains in Argentina, leaving the survivors stranded in harsh conditions for 72 days.
Paez was one of the 16 survivors of the crash, and he played a key role in leading the group during their ordeal. He was instrumental in keeping the spirits of his fellow survivors up, organizing tasks and activities to help them survive, and even embarking on a dangerous journey with two others to seek help.
